Alhough we are in the heart of The Cotswold countryside, Sheepscombe is easily accessible by road, being only 15 minutes from Gloucester, Cheltenham and Stroud and 13 or 14 minutes from Junction 11A of the M5.

You can follow our easy directions below:

From the M5

Leave the M5 at Junction 11A and take the A417 signposted Birdlip. At the first junction come off the A417 and head south on the A46 signposted Stroud. After about 3 miles look out for the left turn for Sheepscombe (The Butchers Arms is signposted from the A46 with "brown signs"). Turn left and follow the lanes to Sheepscombe.

From Stroud

Follow the A46 north from Stroud (signposted Cheltenham). After about 2 miles you will enter Painswick. Follow the A46 through Painswick and keep following the A46. About half a mile north of Painswick look for signposts to Sheepscombe (you will also see our brown signs to The Butchers Arms). Turn right where signposted and follow the lanes to Sheepscombe.

From Gloucester

Head west from Gloucester on the B4073 Painswick Road. Follow the signs for Painswick and in the town centre turn left onto the A46, signposted Cheltenham. Head north out of Painswick and after about half a mile look for signposts to Sheepscombe (you will also see our brown signs to The Butchers Arms). Turn right where signposted and follow the lanes to Sheepscombe.
