Welcome to The Butchers Arms which lies in the heart of "Cider With Rosie" country in the beautiful Sheepscombe valley near Painswick.
At The Butchers Arms you will find great pub food, a selection of real ales, and a warm welcome from your hosts Mark and Sharon and their team. The Butchers Arms is an independently owned traditional country pub and restaurant and all members of the family are welcome. Although we are famous for our food, "The Butchers" is a real village pub and you are equally welcome to drop by for a pint of real ale or a glass of wine. We are proud to have been awarded the title of "Country Pub of The Year 2007" at The Cotswold Life Food and Drink Awards.
Visitors to Sheepscombe are delighted by its beauty and it is one of Gloucestershire’s best kept secrets. The area was once part of the Royal Deer Park of Henry VIIIth and deer still roam the surrounding woods. A number of gardens in the village are open to the public and the famed Painswick Rococo Gardens, Prinknash Abbey and the Prinknash Bird and Deer Park are but a short distance away.
There are magnificent panoramic
views from the terraces and gardens. If the weather
is fine visitors can relax in our delightful garden
and admire the lovely views across the valley. Our position
facing south on the side of the valley is so sheltered
that many people will sit outside and enjoy a leisurely
pint in the middle of Winter.
